🎲 Typography Poster
“ConQuest is an online 3 day convention hosted on Roll20.net, a site that provides free virtual tabletop gaming across the globe. The event aims to raise money for charity by celebrating roleplaying games! Attendees can expect a weekend full of fun, limited edition Roll20 content, games to demo and plenty of campaigns to join. Adventure awaits!”
The design utilizes an ambiguous pixelated-black letter typeface in a 3D dimensional environment. While the final poster creates a mysterious and dangerous through its enticing edges and unusual type selections, the main challenge and prompt was to create it through a series of typographic explorations and synthesis.
Compositions
This project challenges conventional design methods, aiming to broaden one’s senses of design and provoke visual literacy through the combination of abstract compositions: expository, biomorphic, representational, sympathethic, antithetical and ambiguous.
Expository
Non interpretive, straight to the point. The exploration of text hierarchy.
Representational
An illustrative approach to type. Of or relating to representation, especially to realistic graphic representation.
Biomorphic
An abstract form that conveys the subject matter.
Ambiguous
Open to more than one interpretation. It provokes the thought of “this seems to mean...”
Sympathetic
Of, expressing, feeling, agreeably suited to, in concord with meaning. In relation to the subject.
Antithetical
Direct contrast; opposition. The exact opposite.
Hybrids
By combining the six compositions together, a new set of intriguing hybrid posters are created.
